AOC president John Coates has defended his bizarre media conference with Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, saying she “thanked me” for ordering her to attend Friday night's opening ceremony | awebster1975

Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates has defended his bizarre media conference with Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, saying she “thanked me” for ordering her to attend Friday night’s opening ceremony.

“We walked out of there [the media conference] and she thanked me,” Coates said. “The media in Brisbane have been giving her a hard time, saying she shouldn’t go to the opening ceremony, but she had to go. Nevertheless, the exchange between Coates and Palaszczuk has been interpreted as breathtakingly awkward. Some have branded it misogynistic and demanded an apology.

awebster1975 Just demonstrates the power the IOC have over everyone. The IOC held out paying out the host city, forcing Japan to take the burden of holding the games.. morally corrupt..

awebster1975 No matter what it was, it’s not like she has a choice. She doesn’t want to cause any trouble now that the olympics have been won.

awebster1975 Of course he would no narcissist knows how to apologise scottymustgo

awebster1975 Stockholm syndrome

awebster1975 All a set up

awebster1975 Media dicks would have hung her out to dry for staying if her own accord.

awebster1975 Get used to it Queensland 11 years of IOC arrogance will make you wish for another pandemic.

awebster1975 Which year has Australia won the Olympics for, 1926?

awebster1975 So that is what Olympic ideals are? Entitled, Grotesque and twisted view of the world.

awebster1975

awebster1975 body language told it all

awebster1975 He needs to watch the replay and understand how his behaviour was interpreted... correctly! Simply bizarre and humiliating.

awebster1975 John, you sound like Jamie Spears. He would say the same about Britney FreeBritney

awebster1975 'She thanked me' 'I did it for her' With his reasoning as to why I think there would be 3-4 different ways to have achieved this without seeming like an arrogant mansplaining bloke who reckons the girls need a hand from time to time. Was a very awkward interaction indeed

awebster1975

awebster1975 She thanked him? So he's trying to defend and justify extreme passive aggressive behavior.....wow, I'm gobsmacked

awebster1975 An other 'leader' twisting the truth

feralislandBud awebster1975 Mountain/molehill

awebster1975 Bullshit he was rude and condescending

awebster1975 It's are 'game'... oh I wanted to return to my people as quick as possibly so... but was ordered to attend a party... what could I do

awebster1975 Shocked .. Queensland Premier is staying on ..courtesy of a convenient intervention by Coates. The Emperor isn’t attending opening nor ex PM Abe due to Tokyo’s Emergency Covid rule..but hey let us Aussies party like it’s the 2000 Olympics..the question is why is anyone there

awebster1975 What an absolutely misogynistic tool, who does he think he is to order someone to attend a inconsequential event?

awebster1975 Look what she made me do.

awebster1975 John Coates can gaslight all he wants, can't he?

awebster1975 Now she gets to do exactly what she wanted to do in the first place, and it's not her fault because she was ordered to do it, how convenient!

awebster1975 Its a bit like when the rapist tells the police the victim had an orgasm while you raped her. One doesn't make the other OK.

Sandra_Sully awebster1975 Would love to hear from AP. Be interesting to hear was said behind closed doors in a couple of weeks... kind of like the lying cow leak. Stunned he is still talking any words other than a short simple apology. His position should be transitioned ASAP. His time is done, Thanks.

awebster1975 If he actually believes that then he needs to be removed now. This behaviour has not been tolerated for many years. He basically gave her an order on national tv. Is he that arrogant?

awebster1975 Sorry all stuck in the mud, but she is the Premier, the head of the Queensland Government who has signed to host an Olympic games. She has to stay. Really she should stay for the closing as well. The world must go on & must plan beyond this pandemic.

awebster1975 Apart from the sheer rudeness & impudence of Coates, masking & token perspex divider screen within an air conditioned space, when will virtue signalling conclude?

awebster1975 You can take the neanderthal out of the cave but you can't take the cave out of the neanderthal JohnCoates Brisbane2032 Australia

awebster1975 Typical bully. Creates a BS narrative to cover up his wrongdoing.

awebster1975 Go on then, cancel him. 🤷‍♀️People have been stood down or forced to resignation for less. This was a pretty repugnant display of entitlement & manipulation. The only reason AP didn't respond by audibly advising he get fcuked, was because she's currently in Japan as a guest of JPN

awebster1975 Hmm maybe Coates doesn't get sarcasm.

awebster1975 How many more times in the next 11 years will the Premier of QLD,whoever it may be will be expected to obey JohnCoates& AOC orders not to mention thanking him for it? smh couriermail australian GuardianAus auspol qldpol Brisbane2032

awebster1975 Imagine, then, if he decided to be nasty and demeaning towards her!

awebster1975 How does he explain this post press conference video then?

awebster1975 It's sad; our women leaders are so hapless that a few words from a man can completely strip away the illusion of female power. The only way to cope with this 'Emperor Has No Clothes' scenario is to blame the man for his bad behaviour!

awebster1975 Really, a lifetime watching / experiencing situations like this tells me to trust what I saw.

awebster1975 The most arrogant person in Australian sport, that bloke.

awebster1975 How unfortunate that everyone who watched the video, including me, 'misinterpreted' what he said and how he said it.

awebster1975 Mr Coates...

awebster1975 The whole thing was rather embarrassingly staged…

awebster1975 John Coates. Shitstain.
