The shattered hospitality and retail sector has been left in limbo yet again after the Victorian Premier backtracked on his reopening plan following an outbreak in Melbourne.

3min

Mr Andrews has been widely criticised for his decision to delay any announcements on when Melbourne will take the next step out of lockdown. The premier had been suggesting significant steps would be taken on Sunday to ease restrictions, but opted for what he described as a “cautious pause,” despite Melbourne reaching the required average of less than five cases over a two week period.

Melbourne reopening brought to a screeching halt as regional Victoria surges ahead | Sky News AustraliaPremier Daniel Andrews has once again postponed plans to reopen metropolitan Melbourne as he marches forward restriction changes across regional Victoria.\n\nAttempting to justify his decision to keep Melbourne restrictions in place Mr Andrews said “I know people are keen to have a long and detailed list of changes to the rules. It is not appropriate for us to do that now”.\n\nHowever, given the low case numbers in regional areas he announced substantial for regional Victoria, easing limitations on religious gatherings, gyms and funerals.\n\nFrom 11:59pm on October 27 gyms and fitness studios will reopen in regional Victoria, to a maximum of 20 people along with religious gatherings with no more than on person per eight square metres. \n\nIndoor gatherings will now be increased to allow a maximum of 20 people and outdoor gatherings can have up to 50 people.\n\nThe premier congratulated the people of Shepparton for working with health authorities to limit the spread of the virus.\n\n“I can confirm from 11:59pm tonight, greater Shepparton will also come into alignment with the rest of regional Victoria, with hospitality venues moving to up to 40 people inside,' he said.\n DanielAndrewsMP What if today was zero, and the next week was zero to. And we opened. Then the day after opening we get 7 cases, then 7 the day after that. Will he want to close again? What’s the diff in that happening compared to opening now? 'Forgotten fundamentalists' continue their plans 'to destroy us and our way of life' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Cory Bernardi says while the world is distracted by “endless pressing demands of today”, the forgotten Islamic fundamentalist fanatics continue their plans “to destroy us and our way of life”.\n\n“That is something we simply cannot afford to overlook,” he said. \n\n“Perhaps you recall back in January 2015, some Islamic fanatics stormed the HQ of a French satirical magazine and slaughtered 12 people. \n\n“The victims crime was that they dared work for an outlet that dared post cartoons of Mohammed.\n\n“Apparently, we were all Charlie Hebdo back then, marching for freedom of speech, expression and tolerance. \n\n“Then apparently it all got too hard for anyone to deal with, so the government stopped talking about the problem, the media pretty much stopped covering the problem and the rest of us punters, well many of us presumed the problem had all gone away. \n\n“Unfortunately, the problem of Islamic fundamentalism and the fanatics behind it haven’t gone away. They haven’t even gone dormant.”\n \nMr Bernardi said every week since the Charlie Hebdo incident, there had been an average of one terrorist attack attributed to Islam fundamentalists. \n\nThese attacks have occurred all around the globe, even here in Australia, he said. \n\n“Just last week, a French school teacher was beheaded because he dared to discuss the concept of free speech and expression,” Mr Bernardi said. \n\n“His crime? Using a picture of Mohammed as an example, in a class containing Muslim children. \n\n“There was little outcry over the killing, no global march of solidarity…. just another victim of the forgotten fundamentalism taking root across the world. \n\n“A couple of months ago, a jihadi video, urging sneak arson attacks to create bushfires in Australia was uncovered. The aim was to strike fear in the populace and cripple ‘disbelieving governments’ .\n\n“While the world is distracted by the endless pressing demands of today, the forgotten fundamentalists continue their plans to corybernardi corybernardi Who? corybernardi yup/ fanatics never sleep..... shestokas BristolComSense V_of_Europe FRANCE24 pwafork Charlie_Hebdo_ BruhnRose
