Barty has been nigh on untouchable in six matches - the two-time major winner conceding the fewest number of games to reach a grand slam final since Williams at the 2013 US Open. The 25-year-old hasn’t dropped a set and has averaged just 61 minutes per match. Even if an opponent was finding a way to negate the Barty game, it’s often too late.

“If you look at her tennis, she has been playing to her patterns this whole tournament – serve plus forehand, winning over 80 per cent of her service points,” said Davenport.“Her service numbers are Serena-esque from five years ago “Nobody can really solve that riddle and when a player that good is able to play with such ease, look out. She’s looked sensational.”Pat Scala

“I know I can just throw it up and really trust it, go after my spots, and try and get free points and back myself in.Davenport’s glowing endorsement was echoed by grand slam legend Martina Navratilova, who argued a case to counter the Australian.
