A security guard who was stabbed while trying to fight back during the Bondi Junction attack has made a plea to be rewarded with citizenship after the PM’s public praise for the"bollard man".
Mr Guerot’s actions during the attack went viral, when footage circulated online of him attempting to prevent the killer from reaching an area of the shopping centre where children had been playing. “This is someone who we would welcome becoming an Australian citizen, although that would of course be a loss for France. We thank him for his extraordinary bravery."
Following the Prime Minister’s welcoming of Mr Guerot to become an Australian citizen, Mr Taha is calling for help to achieve the same recognition. “As well, the guards working alongside came running towards the point of incident and risking their lives … should be offered citizenship as well.” “I want to say really clearly the actions of Mr Taha are enormously brave as are a range of people, including the person we are calling 'bollard man' were," he said.
