Pubs and clubs are expected to be given about a month to prepare to reopen once the national cabinet decides to ease restrictions on hospitality venues.

Pubs could reopen their doors in July with strict operating rules being developed by a powerful secret taskforce that will be presented to the national cabinet.

It is expected pubs and clubs will be given about a month to prepare to reopen once the national cabinet decides to ease restrictions on hospitality venues. Pubs and gaming venues have been crippled by the shutdown of the economy, with many of closing entirely rather than serving takeaway. Community sporting clubs – many of which rely on patrons buying food and drink and hiring rooms – are buckling under financial distress.

In dining areas there could be half the number of tables and limits on the number of people who can eat together. Condiment, cutlery and water stations would be be removed.

End of July before pubs are reopened? Does that also include restaurants? Only bureaucrats who have never run a business think it’s possible to hibernate a for 5 months and have it reopen like magic. Half of these places will go to the wall.

Get rid of pokies all together no social distancing there.

Morrison under pressure from the big boys Federal Hotels losing money. Will they deep clean their tables and machines daily.

There is a suggestion in this article that a premises would require the COVIDSafe app to be downloaded by patrons to enter. This would breach the government’s Biosecurity Determination for the app. I suggest the article be updated to make this clear.

Allelujah!!!

The casinos can stay closed. This has been the best thing for Australia's gambling addiction.

Yes! COVID

Australians are saving $38m each day w/ the pokies being closed. Now whose best interest is it in to open ca$inos and gaming venue$. Keep them shut thanks?! They destroy lives and familes!

It won't be up to the Federal Government. Each State will decide depending on Deaths and the Spread of Covid19

Good luck with that. No one I know is keen to rush back to a pub! So you will say they can open and they will lose their pub as no one will turn up.

Opening by late July? FFS if thats the case dont bother, theyll all be out of business by then!! This government is so detached from reality its not funny 😤DanielAndrewsMP

So, if venues can only operate to 50% of its capacity and assign an extra staff member to police social distancing, a customer per 4 square metres etc etc.... it’ll be likely majority will stay shut. Will landlords be subsidising rents to 50%, i doubt it. I feel for fine dining

Restart life with social distancing rules still in place. Keep the over 70's locked down until it appears that the virus is under control so that if infections spike they will be in a less vulnerable cohort. This virus will be with us forever and we need to work around it

Very helpful article by paulsakkal
