Tributes and flowers have been left at the gates of the Victoria Police Academy, with flags at half-mast as funerals begin for the four officers who were killed on the Eastern Freeway last week.
The funeral for Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor began at the Academy in Glen Waverley on Thursday afternoon.Leading Senior Constable Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King and Constables Josh Prestney and Glen Humphris were killed on the Eastern Freeway on April 22.The services, which will be privately live-streamed to family and colleagues, come as Victoria Police awaits changes to health restrictions to enable a public state memorial service to be held.
Forever remembered: Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney, Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor and Constable Glen Humphris.Senior Constable Prestney will be farewelled during a private service at Xavier College in Kew on Monday. A police spokeswoman said a private livestream link would be made available for family, friends and colleagues who cannot attend the funerals.Blue ribbons have been tied to the fence at the academy.
