The prime minister is facing criticism after claiming transgender teenagers are contending with"the pressures of identity politics".
Scott Morrison made the remarks in response to transgender activist Georgie Stone after she questioned the prime minister's approach to trans issues. "The tragedy of youth suicide is all too common in Australia, particularly amongst younger Australians working through their identity and the pressures of identity politics,” Mr Morrison said.Transgender Victoria acting executive director Sally Goldner told The Guardian the remarks are completely out of line with what is expected of the modern discourse.
