The schoolboy was with a family member at Southern Cross station waiting for the 5.55pm train to Bendigo on Wednesday - but it left before he was able to board

A boy with autism who missed his train to regional Victoria has spent the night lost and alone in Melbourne's rainy CBD.

Jayden Whyte, 12, was with a family member at Southern Cross station on platform 16 waiting for the 5.55pm train to Bendigo on Wednesday, but it left before he was able to board.Police and family members hold concerns for Jayden’s welfare because he has autism, and also due to his age.Police believe he may have boarded a tram about 6pm on Bourke Street, near Southern Cross Railway Station, and travelled east towards the Bourke Street Mall.

He was last seen wearing glasses, a black jacket with a white logo, a school jumper, blue shorts and a black cap. Anyone who sees Jayden or may have information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Melbourne West Police Station on 8690 4444.

Having a son witj autism who boarded a train unsupported was extremely worrying. It was through FB he was spotted by a train traveller reading my post. I hope he is found safe and well.

What a poorly written article. The start implys has being reunited with family but the end implys he is still missing? Which is it?

Same thing happened to Mrs H and in Southern X station. She got on, I turned to pick up some heavy suitcases, the doors shut and I was left on the platform. We had mobile phones and I caught another (suburban) train 1/2 hour later so it was no big deal, but it does happen!

Oh that’s so sad! 😢
