British man Sam Oliver has won his defamation case against Nine News and been awarded $100,000 | gmitch_news

A Nine News broadcast on the night of his acquittal used the phrase: "It was a coward punch that ended the career of Rugby Sevens captain James Stannard and today he suffered another blow as the man who threw it was cleared of all charges."

, as well as a range of other imputations including that he "committed inexcusable violence" and "would have been found guilty of criminal assault had the truth come out in his trial". Justice Lee awarded Mr Oliver $100,000 in damages after finding the imputations were "of some seriousness".
