Melbourne fund manager Salter Brothers is eyeing up its next big acquisition, the $200 million offering of Spicers Retreats by Rich Lister Graham Turner and his wife Jude, after settling the biggest hotel deal in Australian history –

In an email to staff this week, Spicers Retreats managing director David Assef said there was an “interested party” looking at buying the portfolio and that the company was working through an eight-week due diligence process with them. He added that Spicers Retreats would continue to manage the remaining portfolio under the new owners.Ms Turner said she was “not selling easily” but truly believed “someone can grow the brand better than I can into the future”.In addition to retaining ownership of some Spicer properties, Ms Turner said she wanted to continue to contribute on the “eco, conservation and sustainability side”.
