Ardern may be very popular but she remains a fallible person dealing with real problems.

Ardern may be very popular - a poll last week showed 87 per cent of people supported the government’s COVID-19 response - but she remains a real, fallible person. She leads a real country that is now facing fearsome economic challenges, despite its apparent victory over the first wave of the pandemic.

The government will be hoping support survives until September 19, when voters will deliver their verdict on Ardern’s first term. “There is an enormous risk that they will oscillate in and out of various levels of lockdown and you just need to look at the damage done by these lockdowns to know that you really only want to do this once,” Zollner said.

Yet public support for the harsh measures remained high as the number of new daily cases shot up from a handful in late March, to frightening 89 on April 2.New Zealand is a small country and business, unions, health experts - and the public - all seemed to agree on the lockdown. But as the number of new cases dropped, cracks have appeared in support for the government’s “Unite against COVID-19” campaign.

Others, while supportive of the restrictions, have criticised New Zealand’s general health preparedness, highlighting the country’s extremely low intensive care capacity. The number of ICU beds per 100,000 people was 5.14 in New Zealand, compared to 8.92 in Australia and 12.5 in Italy. As the crisis wore on, these health districts - and the government - copped flak for not knowing how many ventilators they had and mismanaging the distribution of crucial PPE to frontline health workers, among other problems. And that was before the largely invisibleby Ardern after admitting he took his family to the beach during the lockdown.

In order to be Canonised as a Saint in the Catholic Church you must posses the virtue of Justice. That means killing in the womb is forbidden. Catholics like all minorities deserve respect not mocked

She's female, what did you expect.

Of course not. She is human. Doing her best. There are no winners in this ffs. It is a shit sandwich. But still we have to point fingers..

Next you'll be saying Daniel Andrews should be PM. If you think that's a good idea then you agree with his dealings with THIS regime...Horse face also collaborates with them.

Who writes this 💩💩💩?

She’s radical isn’t she Defying the logic of economics with impudence 🙂🤚

Nor should it

New Zealand West Island please jacindaardern. Just annex us.

Aren't her approval ratings in the 80s? Isn't there talk of a leadership spill amongst the opposition? These critics sound like a minority to me.

Needlessly crushing your economy, bravo . Such a great leader .

I dare say she could bring peace between Israel and Palestine and still be criticised.

She does what a leader is supposed to do: lead, show initiative, take responsibility.

Her fanatical supporters have developed a cult of personality over her. Her most extreme supporters harass and bully anyone who dares criticize her. Some of them threatened to kill the leader of the opposition, his wife and children

They don't want to accept the truth haaha

why refer to her as 'saint' its just sarky nastiness

Haters gonna hate. But they are alive to hate.

Lets face it. Our leaders are just ordinary people doing extraordinary jobs. In this case a very down to earth person, who happens to be a woman, grappling with an extreme circumstance. NZ should be glad they haven't got Trump as their head.

No saint.

What's with the sarcastic 'saint' in the headline? Reeks of clickbait.

Virtue signaling show off 👎

Haters have to hate. She’s still a woman and they are still who they are.?What has changed?

Because they are mendacious arseclowns.

Ardern's NZ govt got cash into the bank accounts of New Zealanders - the whole 12 weeks' worth as a lump sum - weeks ago and automatically! Whereas Australians will be waiting until May for anything to be eeked out to them. New Zealanders have certainty as to lockdown levels.

NZ 9 cases today - 4 mill pop/AU 15 cases today 25 mill pop

That this traitor is popular only proves that democracy is a mistake.

think again ? who is her boss evil people absolute fraudsters she will have NZ wrapped in cotton wool and fines for farting in public. Socialistic agenda so obvious running a gynocracy hates men despises them ! reverse sexists' NZ men wake up she is turning you into women

Why TikTok is the app everyone is turning to during lockdownThe social video sharing app once seemed just for teenagers but since social isolation started, more and more people are joining TikTok for connection, comedy and creativity. Except those that care about privacy and don’t want the CCP to have their data and monitor them.... apart from that I hear it’s great Because it's more fun than listening to fake stream media and their plannedemic fear mongering, vaccine preparing propaganda? The small steps Australia will take towards the goal of easing the lockdownAustralia is one of the few countries in the world where suppression has worked so well that governments are looking for ways to ease the burden of lockdowns Yep. So lets jump the gun a and climb the vivid world ladder. Its too short term. Changes to modelling needed for debate: 1. realistic best case scenario of 2-4% infection as per White House model (not 11%!) 2. Adjust for density of Australian cities and coastal areas 3. test opening airports with low and high immunity Just keep the pubs and clubs (no pokies) closed and only open restaurants and cafes that offer the choice of take-aways
