Russia cut off gas to Bulgaria and Poland last month amid an energy payments dispute sparked by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine

Russia has halted providing natural gas to neighbouring, which has angered Moscow by applying for Nato membership, after the Nordic country refused to pay supplier Gazprom in roubles.

“Natural gas supplies to Finland under Gasum’s supply contract have been cut off,” it said in a statement. The majority of gas used in Finland comes from Russia but gas only accounts for about 5% of its annual energy consumption., after public and political support for the alliance soared following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.Moscow has warned Finland that any Nato membership application would be “a grave mistake with far-reaching consequences”.
