I’ve been writing stories about Folau since he was a teenager, when he was a spring-heeled centre for the Melbourne Storm.
Which is fine. People can be bigots if they want. They can worship whomever they want. But if they are representing a company, or an organisation, or in Folau's case a professional sporting code, that bigotry has consequences.Sure, she’d buggered a few things up. She’d sacked Folau before speaking to him. She didn’t insist on a social media clause in his contract.
As far as RA and its lawyers were concerned, those documents not only proved that Folau had promised he wouldn’t vilify the LGBT community on social media — he was even apologetic for any of the harm he had already caused. And then he did it again.

SMHsport Actually, it's more likely Rugby Australia's INSURER rolled over and settled. Insurers have little interest in points of principle or even law; they served shareholder interests by avoiding the costs and risks of a court battle. A PR win for Folau, but no verdict.
