Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has dropped All-Australian defender Caleb Daniel for Friday night’s clash against Essendon. Daniel played the first four matches of the season, although started Round 1 as the substitute and was subbed out of last week’s loss to Geelong.
But the 27-year-old is heading back to the VFL in a surprise move. It continues an intriguing season of selection by Beveridge with star midfielder Jack Macrae also on the outer at times. Meanwhile, the Bombers have lost Will Setterfield to injury with Sam Durham among the inclusions. Elsewhere, Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield will spend another week on the sidelines with the Cats set to blood debutant Connor O’Sullivan against North Melbourne.
