The disqualification will force Abramovich to move ahead with selling Chelsea following the government sanctions imposed on him

said: “Following the imposition of sanctions by the UK Government, the Premier League board has disqualified Roman Abramovich as a director of Chelsea Football Club.

The government made minor amendments to Chelsea’s licence on Saturday. The European champions can now spend up to £900,000 on matchday costs – increased from £500,000 – and will have access to prize money earned. Restrictions on selling tickets and the club’s travel budget, capped at £20,000 for away games, have not yet been amended.
