'Rip off': Hundreds of Australian fans seek refunds over Boomers-Team USA seating

ACCC chair Rod Sims on Friday confirmed there had been hundreds of complaints in the lead up to the series."We've had a couple hundred, that's a lot in our world to get in such a short time," Mr Sims told"That was the number of complaints first thing this morning ... it's probably gone up since then."

Promoters charged $160 or more for tickets in the upper sections, and several hundred dollars for the ground level where the court was raised above the ground.Actor Russell Crowe was unimpressed with the view from his $1500 seat."The only thing achieved tonight by @BasketballAus was enjoining with the promoters in ripping off well meaning lovers of the sport. It was a farce."

The ACCC started investigating the basketball series at the start of last week to see if fans had been misled into believing big name stars would be playing. She said it was a matter for the ACCC and not Consumer Affairs Victoria because it was "a national event" not "a Victorian-only event".
