Spring may be here, but you won't want to put the umbrella away just yet. This weekend is set to be cold, wet and windy 💦☔️💨

Spring may have technically arrived, but it will be a while longer until Melburnians can ditch their umbrellas and welcome cheerier conditions.

It will make for a "wet, cold and windy" night at the clash between Geelong and Collingwood on Friday for the first qualifying final held at the MCG. "It will become quite cold as well throughout the day with the winds tending quite strong south-westerly, potentially some snow falls down to as low as 1000 metres elevation by late Friday, so we are looking at a return to wintry conditions across much of the state," Mr Efron said. There is the chance of a thunderstorm on Friday in the late morning and afternoon, with possible hail.
