Rescue workers in Beirut have detected what they believe could be a sign of survivors under rubble, one month after a deadly explosion shattered the city.The building was one of thousands destroyed by a deadly blast in AugustA sniffer dog from a Chilean rescue team detected something at a collapsed building site in the residential district of Gemmayze on Thursday .

The origin of the pulsing signal was not immediately known but it set off a frantic search and raised new hope. Residents gathered nearby, holding out hope that someone could be found, while some voiced frustration that not enough had been done earlier to find survivors. The protesters started searching themselves until members of Lebanon's Civil Defence team arrived an hour after midnight and resumed work.
