A Pontifical Requiem Mass will be held at St Mary’s Cathedral at 11am on Thursday, February 2 for the late Cardinal George Pell.

A requiem mass will be held for the late Cardinal George Pell at St Mary’s Cathedral on Thursday, February 2 before his body is laid to rest in the cathedral crypt in a private ceremony.Pell died in Rome on January 10 in Rome after complications from hip surgery. He was 81.

“Cardinal Pell left a remarkable legacy for the Catholic Church in Australia and this will undoubtedly be one of the most significant funerals ever held at the Cathedral,” Richardson said. Masses will also be held on February 1 at 1.10pm and 8pm for mourners unable to attend the Funeral Mass on February 2. Evening prayer will also be held at 5.30pm on Wednesday, February 1.
