The Republican Party cannot win office again without Donald Trump and his large base of very loyal supporters, according to New York Post columnist Miranda Devine. Rumours have surrounded what former President Trump will now do with his vast popularity now he has left office.
It has been reported he is considering establishing a new political party, naming it the Patriot Party, but Ms Devine said the move would only split the conservative base and ensure long-lasting Democratic rule. “He is very popular and the Republican Party cannot win office without his base,” she said. “If he started a new party, they also would not be able to win office without the establishment Republicans. So you’d have a situation where the conservative vote would be split.
