Those who suffered devastating loss in the January bushfires say they didn't have time to rebuild before the coronavirus came along and dealt them another crippling blow.

It has been a tough few months for Josh Collings since his home in Victoria's north-east was burnt to the ground in January's bushfires: the rubble was only cleared last week.Businesses in tourist towns raise concerns heading into the winter monthsBreaking down the latest news and research to understand how the world is living through an epidemic, this is the ABC's Coronacast podcast.

Mr Collings said he had been told it would only take contractors three to four days to clear his rubble away, but it took them two weeks. "It's taking a lot longer than we were told it would, or we expected, but it is coming along," Mr Collings, who lives in Cudgewa, said. Despite the extra time and the wait for help, Mr Collings feels like he is one of the lucky ones among those who lost their homes in the fires, with many others still waiting for a clean-up and other kinds of assistance.

"I feel there is a sense of relief but also a sense of being forgotten. It's a really confusing time," he said.yet only 40 of nearly 700 properties have been cleared."We are dealing with a global pandemic at the moment, but we have not forgotten you, nor will we," Mr Andrews said.

Even after all those donations? Are you sure you interviewed every survivor or are you just assuming they feel this way?

did they forget the $50million raised for them, the concerts and the hundreds of thousands of items donated by the public. We are all now tighting our belt and trying to keep a roof over our heads and not die or infect someone- dont be selfish its unaustralian

I know there were some who just got on for it and knew we had to cancel their working bee.

Where has the money gone?

Funny how the government 'announces' things and then doesn't do them, isn't it? Infuritating that they keep getting away with it thanks to a largely-compliant media.

PeterRelph And no doubt still would have been sans the virus.

Hoping that they are all safe🙏

How long were the people from the previous fires in Kinglake living in caravans for?

Yes and I don't blame them. Imagine if your home is gone and you have to self isolate somewhere strange or in adequate. They still need to be front and centre of our govs, Feds and State.

Dont live in NSW so dont care about your bushfires

Where’s the money?

I was just saying to my dad yesterday that I feel really sorry for people devastated by the bushfires because they've been swept aside by COVID-19.

Where did all the money we donated go?

In bushfires thousands of animals perish. Now it is humans turn? Frightening 😱

They were forgotten before the virus.

Yeah we remember the fires, and the $2 billion dollars.. where did that go?

The government has tried very hard to forget the promises it made to the victims of the bushfires. Just like they are hoping like hell a small war breaks out. So they can send our troops off to fight and take our attention from their current list of promises.
