Reece Hodge suspended for three weeks for high tackle on Yato | geerob

Australia argued the tackle was not a red card offence, and that Hodge was a passive tackler preparing for a “soak tackle”, and had turned his head away to avoid a direct clash. The committee rejected those arguments.

“Given the above outcomes, the committee determined that the act of foul play warranted a red card,” the statement said. “Having acknowledged Hodge’s exemplary disciplinary record, good character and conduct at the hearing, the committee reduced the six-match entry point by three matches, resulting in a sanction of three matches.”

"We think it is important and that’s the support they get during Super Rugby and TRC [Rugby Championship], so we think that should remain in place for the world’s biggest rugby tournament."Australia's $1 million budget for referees training was the same as World Rugby's, an organisation that makes all the match official appointments for the Six Nations, Rugby Championship and World Cup.

geerob RIP rugby world cup

geerob Good

geerob Cheap shot & he got to remain on the field... if he was an AB it was a straight red.

geerob 3 weeks! What a joke. International Rugby committee should hang their heads in shame for giving that long out of the game for that incident. The World cup should be wanting more people to tune in, but this will send viewers away.

geerob I’m shocked.

geerob What a spectacularly stupid decision.
