They changed the way temperatures are measured. They read temp every second now not every few minutes, and spike maximums that got averaged out before, are now recorded as new 'highs' Shameless, aren't they? We can NEVER apply this new methodology to old readings.

How far back did they go, not very far! Stop this bullshit it’s false and misleading.

Where was the data recorded to start with ... compared with today? Lots more measuring these days

Rainfall totals lowest in 13 years of above average rain years. This indeed sounds dire, almost unprecedented. Can we have a comment from Flannery?

Where? It’s been bloody freezing here.

They must have left the thermometer on the road, it's been the coolest summer I can remember auspol

Haha - you want to classify all Australia as above average - please explain with rationale as it must surely be an error. Some areas are below average. Back to weather school and learning how to present real results not a generalised assumption !

Looking at the records the BOM ignores anything from the latter part of the 1800's The number would blow their third warmest year out of the dry lake bed. The droughts were bigger as well

Rainfall statement clashes with their website data Obviously on-line hasn't been homogenised yet

It’s called weather. It’s happened before and will happen again. By the way, the Adelaide BOM moved its weather recorders from under the shade of a tree in Kent Town to the top of a concrete high rise in Adelaide’s CBD. GO FIGURE, CONCRETE MAINTAINS ITS HEAT MASS FOR A LONG TIME.

It's official: Bureau of Meteorology confirms 2018 was a scorcherNine of the 10 warmest years on record in Australia have occurred since 2005. Oh, thanks for that. Until it's officially announced I'm never sure whether i was hot or not. Now i can relax knowing that it wasn't just hot flushes The indoctrination. Still puzzles me as to why BOM only go back to 1961 with their stats.

How's the weather been for you in 2018?BOM has just released its official review of the weather in 2018 but what was it really like on the ground? Hot! Damned hot! About 0.25 degrees warmer than usual, or in other words undetectable on a thermometer … Going by the changes in my garden throughout the year the worst parts were a week of colder than average nights that froze plants, then there was a week where we had hot dry westerlies that did as much damage. Otherwise the plants are very happy with less insect pests around.
