Infrared satellite from Tuesday shows large parts of central and northern Australia exceeding 40°C, appearing as bright orange shades. Thursday's forecast is set to reach maximum temperatures of 14°C in Hobart, 16°C in Melbourne and 23°C in Sydney.A second similar system is set to push through again on Sunday with a low pressure system centered closer to Tasmania, which could bring "a slightly stronger push of cold air to southern NSW than the first front".Weatherzone has warned that some southern regions of the country will see a summer burst of snow.

Brisbane is looking at a maximum of 37°C today which, if reached, will be a three-year record temperature – making it the warmest day since December 2019, when the mercury hit 41.2°C.

Patient wait times at Queensland emergency departments the worst in years, new data revealsOnly 68 per cent of Queensland public hospital emergency department patients were seen within the recommended times last financial year, new data shows. Wouldn't have to be if GP's were more accessible again. Ever since COVID it's impossible to see a GP, and tele health doctor calls are a waste of time. If you have symptoms and when it gets worse you have to go emergency because they're the only ones who will see you in person. Is this really news? I don't think this would surprise anyone but the health minister. No different in WA and Victoria, notably Labor States that have dessimated our Hospitals and Ambulance Service.

‘Very important’: Remarkable fossil discovery made in QueenslandQueensland Museum’s Dr Espen Knutsen has discussed the rare find of a 100 million-year-old plesiosaur, which was recently discovered by a group of amateur paleontologists in Queensland. Dr Knutsen said the find was “very important”. “The thing about these really long-necked critters is that the head often goes missing,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “So now that we got that overlapping part, with the head with the body, we can now start unravelling all the diversity of these animals.”

Queensland family dies in US light plane crashA mother and daughter from Queensland have been tragically killed in a light plane crash in the United States. The woman's husband Christian Kath, who piloted the aircraft, remains missing after the plane crashed in the Gulf of Mexico. The bodies of 43-year-old Misty Kath and their daughter Lily have been recovered as Florida police search for Mr Kath's body. The family is survived by a second daughter, who is 10 years old. A light Boeing 737, apparently.
