The DTA’s Digital Service Standard has 13 criteria “to help government agencies design and deliver services that are simple, clear and fast”.According to the agency, making source code open saves money, increases transparency, and adds benefits through improvements by other developers.
“Good uptake, in my mind, would be well over half the people and I think we will get it because I think Australians will rise to the challenge because they have risen to the challenge of distancing,” chief medical officer Dr Brendan Murphy said atThe Government has sold the app to the public as both a way to protect health care workers and potentially ease lockdown restrictions.
He said while there are potential problems with releasing the code, the consequences are minor and unlikely. The Government has said it will be illegal for anyone but the DTA and state and territory health authorities to access the data held on theapp users upload their data to, and that the data can’t be used to prosecute any crime.
“You would then have to question the motivation behind that attack, it wouldn’t be a criminal activity because there isn’t then that financial motivation in terms of trying to direct people to scams. We’ve seen this with the attack of the online Census a few years ago, so again it was really to discredit the Government rather than trying to spread misinformation,” Prof Warren said.
I have a 2014 Samsung Note 3. The app is not supported on my phone. That's why I can't download the app, just like many others my age (over 60 yrs) who can't afford a new phone every year. Well done app developers for thinking about the older, most at risk generation!
If you're posting on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok etc or wearing a Fitbit or similar device, you're already giving away your privacy. Think about that.
The, no downloaders that have an m.p now are being tracked daily and ever keystroke so the argument is CRAP. Either drug dealing, crime, cheating on their wife, or just plan DUMB. we have dumb footballers, young party goers, some people are a waste of space.
I dont accept privacy and security as valid reasons when argued by anyone using FACEBOOK over a MOBILE PHONE.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human rights, it the argument of tyrants it is the creed of slaves.
Millions have downloaded it, then uninstalled it!😅
What could possibly go wrong
Authoritarianism, that is why I won’t be downloading it. The Government wants us to shuffle two by two, quietly. Our government has show its true colours.
This app will have minimal impact on controlling COVID-19 but a huge impact on your freedom.
Blah blah blah, download the app or stay inside.
TRUST
I’ll take a guess at no 1 reason , selfishness
Because there’s too many wack jobs that have no idea.
When they say our data will be protected by yet to be passed legislation it's a bit concerning, you'd hope that could have been pushed through prior to the app's release
I will never DL the app as I don’t trust this or any government with my info. They have proven time and time again they can’t be trusted.
