Australia will send thousands of vaccines into Papua New Guinea within days as authorities scramble to contain an out-of-control coronavirus outbreak.

Mr Morrison said Australia had paid for the vaccines and it wanted to see them redirected to “support our nearest neighbour, PNG, to deal with their urgent needs in our region”.

A pallet of humanitarian stores is loaded onto a Royal Australian Air Force C130J Hercules transport aircraft at HMAS Albatross, Nowra, New South Wales. From January 3 to March 16 there have been 2351 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 26 deaths reported, but the country’s low testing rates have raised concerns the true extent of the outbreak is much worse.

“We know that there are some of those bordering communities in PNG that are very close to the Torres Strait, so of course that is going to be a priority for us to help with any vaccination program there,” she said.

It wouldn’t be a risk if Morrison actually vaccinated Australians.

Surely that’s not the only reason to help out our neighbours?

‘Real battle within Labor Party’: Fitzgibbon ‘furious’ with Bowen over power plant | Sky News AustraliaLabor sources have revealed to Sky News that Joel Fitzgibbon is furious and feels “blindsided” by Labor's energy and climate change spokesperson Chris Bowen’s avid opposition to the new gas-fired power plant in the Hunter Valley.\n\nMr Fitzgibbon said the government’s $600 million investment to build a new gas-fired power generator in Kurri Kurri was “unequivocally good for reliability, affordability, and our region”.\n\nThe Morrison government announced on Wednesday it will build a new 660-megawatt gas open-cycle generator in the Hunter Valley to supplement the energy grid upon the closing of the Liddell Power station.\n\nMr Fitzgibbon said the market failure was “one of the government’s own making” and welcomed its response to fill “fix the supply-gap problem”.\n\nSky News Political Editor Clennell said the Labor MP for Hunter was “blindsided by ferocity” of Chris Bowen’s statement today calling for the prime minister to justify the proposal.\n\n“This proposal isn’t justified by the economics, it isn’t justified by the engineering, this is a proposal which Mr Morrison and Mr Taylor must urgently release the business case for,” Mr Bowen said.\n\nThe shadow energy minister did not consult with Mr Fitzgibbon on the matter despite his public support for the government’s proposed gas project, according to Mr Clennell.\n\nMr Clennell said there was a “real battle” within the Labor Party as Mr Fitzgibbon was clearly “at odds with his old mate Chris Bowen”.\n\n“Joel Fitzgibbon campaigning against his own frontbench and his leader on this one.”\n Its OIL & PETROL that needs to be stamped out Immediately.
