South Sydney enforcer Tom Burgess is confident the Rabbitohs are ready to end three years of finals heartbreak at hands of the Panthers after a breakthrough victory on Thursday locked the competition heavyweights at one win apiece for 2023.

“He’s a pretty big player but I think we’re all still building our game."We're looking forward to going away for a couple of weeks with games in Brisbane the next two weeks, and I think it will be good for us.”

“We also had Jai back in a different role in the middle there and I had a different role coming off the bench but I didn’t mind it, it worked out for the team,” Burgess said. “It was just a bit of a different feel coming off the bench. It caught me off guard a little bit. I was blowing and JD realised that and got me off and brought me back on in the second half as another impact.“If he can start stringing together a few games he’s just going to keep going and building that momentum. He’s strong, fit and can chop people in half.”
