A Queensland mother has been reunited with her eight-year-old son after being separated for three months due to a coronavirus lockdown and border closures. 9News

Speaking with Fordham earlier this month, Ms Brennan fought back tears as she explained the situation.Simone Brennan and son Luchas were reunited on the Gold Coast today after 12 weeks apart."They should be able to come home. I'm happy to home quarantine. Why can't they have rapid testing?"

"Having him with me for this long has been great, but it's been hard on his mum obviously," Luchas's father, Ali Abdullah, told 9News.

This separation should never have happened and wouldn’t have happened in the Australia I used to know. The one that wasn’t run on hysterical fear.
