A Queensland father has died after being bitten by a snake while attempting to remove it from a Townsville child care centre. Jerromy Brookes, 47, was found by paramedics in cardiac arrest at his home in Deeragun, in the city’s outer west, after being bitten multiple times on his left arm on Tuesday afternoon. He was taken to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition but died soon after. 7NEWS understands he was not a professional snake handler.
“The call was made by the patient’s wife who then commenced CPR as the patient went into cardiac arrest,” Marten said. “The information provided to us was that the gentleman had been bitten in a different location and attended back to his residence, where his wife has immobilised his arm and wrapped it, when the onset of the symptoms occurred.
