A forgotten grocery item has inadvertently landed a Queensland couple $100,000. The couple purchased a winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket from a convenience store in Carrara, on the Gold Coast. But one of the winners told The Lott her husband only bought the ticket after she forgot to buy milk on her way home from a hairdresser appointment. Her husband then went on a “mission” to buy the forgotten milk. “While he was at the grocer he ended up buying two Instant Scratch-its tickets,” she said.
It’s just amazing!” The pair plan to buy some new furniture with their prize. “We would love to buy a couple of recliners,” the woman said. “It’s also our wedding anniversary next week, so we’ll be celebrating the milestone and our win over a bottle of champagne.” The manager of the Friendly Grocer Emerald Lakes, where the couple purchased the winning ticket, said it was the first time the store had sold a top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its.
