Sky News host AlanJones says if you think waiting 90 minutes at a border checkpoint “is diabolical,” border residents are claiming the process is taking closer to three-hours.

Sky News host Alan Jones says if you think waiting 90 minutes at a border checkpoint “is diabolical,” border residents are claiming the process is taking closer to three-hours. He said what seems to be happening at the Gold Coast, with the “so-called open borders … suggests to me that they are not open at all”. “Paradoxically, I suppose they are, if you are prepared to wait for hours”.

Mr Jones spoke with Gold Coast’s Mayor Tom Tate who spoke of the potential redrawing of the Queensland-NSW state border. Calls have been made for the border to be moved 7km south to the Tweed River at Banora Point in a bid to ease traffic congestion. "That means our local residents are not jam-packed in front of their houses". Mr Tate said the situation has "been tough". Mr Jones said he has been told that approach will only shift the problem further south.

Victorian 'stranglehold' on the AFL to loosen as clubs move to Queensland | Sky News AustraliaThe migration of Victorian clubs to Queensland will turn the state into the “sporting Mecca” of Australia, according to Sky News contributor Caleb Bond.\n\nAccording to the Courier Mail “Queensland is poised t become the undisputed sporting capital of Australia after the AFL yesterday announced all 10 Victorian clubs would be relocating to the Sunshine State”.\n\nMr Bond said moving the sport to Queensland may help to “decentralise the League”.\n\n“In many respects the AFL still likes to think of itself as the VFL,” he told Sky News host Peter Gleeson. \n\n“At least temporarily it puts a pause on the Victorian stranglehold over the AFL”. \n But with lock downs.... They searched the wrong area. Halfway up Mona Vale Road is the Eastern end of Lane Cove road QLD now reaping the rewards of opening up whilst identifying and stopping travel from hotspots. The SA transition committee should take note, get someone on that committee with enough brain power to come up with a plan to open the state whilst identifying hotspots.

NT extends border closure to Sydney | Sky News AustraliaTravellers who visited Sydney will be forced to enter a 14-day quarantine period if they wish to enter the Northern Territory as border restrictions are ramped up in the Top End. \n\nThe territory was set to reopen its borders to the rest of Australia from Friday, barring Victoria and visitors from Sydney.\n\nNT health authorities declared all 31 local government areas in Sydney as hotspots due to a growing coronavirus cluster at the Crossroads Hotel in the city's south-west. \n\nChief Minister Michael Gunner said it would be a “roll of the dice” to open borders to Sydney and insisted he did not “gamble with the lives of Territorians.” \n\nThe ban on Sydney will be reviewed in two weeks while a police presence was set to remain on NT borders for the foreseeable future. \n\nImage: Getty So it’s good enough for QLD, good enough for the NT but not good enough for the brainless SA transition committee. The bad news is Australia's unemployment figure 'is a fake number' | Sky News AustraliaPutting aside the 'fake number' reflecting Australia's unemployment figure, the nation is probably experiencing a rate closer to 20 per cent according to News Corp Business columnist Terry McCrann.\n\n'The bad news - and the truth as opposed to that fake number - is obviously the impact on work, and the impact on families obviously, across the economy across Australia, is much worse than that 7.4 per cent,' he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. \n\nOn Thursday it was announced Australia's unemployment rate has risen to 7.4 per cent in June, which is the highest since November 1998.\n\nThe Australian Bureau of Statistics said 992,000 Australians are now formally unemployed, with the underemployment figures expected to be much higher. \n\n'If you actually dig into the numbers, we've probably got something like 20 per cent, not 7 per cent, 20 per cent of the workforce, one in five workers either really unemployed or, not just statistically unemployed, or only have their job courtesy of JobKeeper,' he said. \n\n 'As soon as JobKeeper goes away, they would lose that job unless the underlying economy has picked up'. \n\n'That is devastating, we've never seen anything like that before'. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia \n\n Shutdown worse than the virus. Guess we will find out next year. This is why Dan fucked us. His incompetence allowed the virus spread through the towers causing another lockdown. All small business are done, and others have had to lay off employees, not surprised to hear this news at all I'd belive Terry McCrap more if he didnt work for theheraldsun and of course the perpetual bullshitshit spinner
