Parts of Queensland have recorded more than 80mm of rain in the past 24 hours, and the Bureau of Meteorology has forecast more showers into the weekend.

Severe thunderstorms were also forecast for the southeast to central Queensland at the weekend.

Meteorologists warned the intense downpours could lead to flash flooding in parts of the state.
