A Qantas safety instructor sacked for allegedly looking at an employee’s breasts “for 10 seconds” during training has won his job back and full back pay.

A Qantas safety instructor sacked for allegedly staring at an employee’s breasts “for 10 seconds” during training has won his job back after the workplace tribunal found the claims of harassment did not stack up.

The employee, who was seated 1.5 metres away, said it “felt like a lifetime” and made her feel uncomfortable and humiliated, with her face turning red. She said she again felt humiliated when after a break the instructor allegedly told the class that “earlier I had made a joke and it was not received well, so I’ll try and do better”.

Commissioner McKenna backed the instructor’s account and rejected that he was “ogling” the employee’s breasts.
