Breaking: Qantas air crew landing in NSW on repatriation flights from international COVID-19 hotspots will be required to undertake a COVID-19 swab at the airport before being allowed to isolate at home as of midnight | LucyCormack

Crew members who live interstate and land in Sydney can immediately transfer to another domestic flight to reach their home state, but will also take a swab test before departing.

"This will include wearing a mask and suitable distance made available between the crew member and other people travelling on the flight. Qantas will have procedures in place for this when crew are travelling," the document says. Under the changes, from 12.01am Tuesday, crew members that are Australian citizens who reside in NSW can self-isolate in their household so long as they take a swab test and make a declaration confirming they have had no contact with a COVID-19 case and that they have had no symptoms.NSW Health will contact Qantas crew members throughout their self-isolation period to ensure they are adhering to the rules.

Qantas investigates how employee contracted COVID-19 | Sky News AustraliaQantas has launched an investigation into how a cabin crew member contracted COVID-19 after returning to Australia on a repatriation flight from France. \n\nThe employee arrived in Darwin, from Paris, on flight QF176 on Thursday last week, before travelling to Sydney on a domestic flight on Friday. \n\nThe man developed mild symptoms while in self-isolation at home. \n\nQantas issued a statement saying, “the crew member did not have symptoms when operating the repatriation flight or when travelling on the domestic sector and was wearing a mask throughout both flights, so the risk of transmission is low.”\n\n“The domestic flight occurred more than 48 hours prior to symptom onset,' Qantas said. \n\nHe is the first Qantas crew member to test positive since late March. \n\n\n They caught it in France.
