The big four consultancies have welcomed the final report of a Senate inquiry into the sector, which focused primarily on structural issues and avoided direct criticism of individuals and firms.

“The committee … maintains the view that PwC has failed to be completely open and honest and to genuinely change,” the report said. A PwC spokesman said the firm would consider the report’s contents, and was taking “significant steps to enhance our governance, culture and accountability, and we continue to work hard to rebuild trust and confidence with our stakeholders”.KMPG was criticised for “contradictory” evidence about its use of “power maps” designed to track relationships with key public servants and agencies.
