A senior constable at Queensland police said his female boss was a “c---” and told colleagues if she did not give him the job he wanted, he threatened to “punch her in the c---” , an inquiry has heard.
The inquiry heard the officer was refused the job by his female officer in charge, given his previous conduct in the workplace. The inquiry has also heard officers have referred to people as “towel heads” and have pinned images of women in swimwear on station fridges with the caption “tap and go”.The Queensland Police Service received more than 1600 complaints between 2020 and 2022 relating to harassment and bullying incidents, which included sexist, misogynistic and homophobic behaviour, the inquiry heard.
Rohweder was later promoted to chief superintendent after the incident, sparking concern over the police service’s promotion policies. “I agree, if I didn’t have those two matters together ... I looked at his contract a few days before, I would’ve dealt with this incident differently. ”
