Crossbenchers and the Greens won’t succeed in attempts to strengthen the National Anti-Corruption Commission legislation next week.

is set to pass parliament before the end of next week, with the controversial provision which will exclude almost all hearings from being in public remaining intact.

Only eligible judges of federal superior courts, and not Administrative Appeals Tribunal members, will have authority to issue surveillance and interception warrants, and any evidence revealing legal advice will be given in private. It will remain due to support from the Coalition, but Mr Dreyfus has denied making a deal with Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.
