Protesters set cars on fire, smashed windows and clashed with officers in riot gear after police in Wisconsin shot and wounded a black man, apparently in the back, while responding to a call about a domestic dispute.

Protesters set cars on fire, smashed windows and clashed with officers in riot gear after Kenosha police shot and wounded a black man, apparently in the back, while responding to a call about a domestic dispute.

The officers were placed on administrative leave, standard practice in a shooting by police, while the state Justice Department investigates. The shooting happened at about 5pm and was captured from across the street on mobile phone video that was posted online. "While we do not have all of the details yet," the governor said in a statement, "what we know for certain is that he is not the first black man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement in our state or our country.""I have said all along that although we must offer our empathy, equally important is our action," the governor said.

In the unrest that followed on Sunday night, social media posts showed neighbours gathering in the surrounding streets and shouting at police. Some could be heard chanting, "No justice, no peace!" Others appeared to throw objects at officers and damage police vehicles.Officers fired tear gas to disperse the crowds.

"That man just literally grabbed him by his shirt and looked the other way and was just shooting him. With the kids in the back screaming. Screaming," Booker said.

Well they did and they should be made accountable

Police will say he reach down his pants and shot him anyway.....🖕🏻

Seems unlikely that the bullet did all of that...

The dude did not comply and reached for a gun.

The end of the American Empire

There was no apparent about it, they did shoot him in the back

Defunding police is ‘the last thing you want to do’: Kim Klacik | Sky News AustraliaBaltimore Republican congressional candidate Kim Klacik has told Sky News the real story on the streets is that people want more police, but “apparently in the media it’s another story”.\n\nMs Klacik rose to prominence in recent weeks after a campaign video of her in her native Baltimore went viral after she exposed the inherent issues in her mainly black district which gone unfixed by countless Democratic administrations.\n\n“We didn’t meet anyone in Baltimore city that wants to defund the police,” she said.\n\nIn recent months, the move to defund the police has gained serious momentum after the killing of unarmed African American man George Floyd by police sparked a national and international Black Lives Matter movement.\n\nMs Klacik said defunding the police is the “last thing you want to do” when a city like Baltimore has had five straight years of over 300 murders.\n\nIn the past year alone Baltimore had over 700 shootings, and 400 carjackings, according to Ms Klacik.\n\n“So the people that end up being preyed upon, are the black people,” she said.\n\n“That’s not what we want. In the streets they want more police, but apparently in the media it’s another story.”\n\n kimKBaltimore Its sad.I've seen multiple interviews with minorities who want to keep police presence or even increase it in their neighborhoods. They tend to favor more consistent training, but also meeting and building person to person bonds with members of the community instead of defunding. kimKBaltimore Looks like there are constant problems with the Baltimore police. Rather more police maybe the police themselves should be sorted out first.
