The flu season in New South Wales is now underway, with the state’s peak health body urging residents to take measures to protect themselves as cases are expected to surge.
“We are now officially entering the influenza season, with cases expected to surge rapidly in the next six to eight weeks,” she said in a statement. “We are also seeing COVID-19 activity increase from low to moderate levels, and expect that COVID-19 will also continue to increase, so we are encouraging the community to make sure they are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations,” Dr Chant said.
