Lawyers for the Prince, who was friends with both Epstein and Ms Maxwell, said he has offered his help a number of times and remain "utterly bewildered" by the approach of the US Department of Justice.in the US state of New Hampshire on Thursday on charges she lured underage girls for Epstein to abuse.
Last month US Attorney for Manhattan Geoffrey Berman said the Duke of York was evading efforts to question him over his contacts with Epstein and on Thursday his replacement, Audrey Strauss, told a news conference she would "welcome Prince Andrew coming in to talk with us". But a source close to the Prince's legal work group told the ABC they had got in touch with US authorities twice in the last month but had not had any response.
"The Duke of York has offered his assistance to the DOJ investigation on a number of occasions this year," the source said.
