Premier side-steps tough questioning at hotel quarantine inquiry | Sky News Australia

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has refused to reveal whose decision it was to hire a governmental department to run the botched hotel quarantine scheme. “Did you or your crisis cabinet decide that hotel quarantine would be better run by people who fix roads and run an art gallery, than your own health department?” Liberal MP Richard Riordan said.

Premier Andrews responded saying “the answer to your question is no, at no point did people make a decision like that”, but did not specify how Global Victoria came to help oversee the program. The Premier said the coronavirus crisis thrust a lot of people and agencies into roles that were previously outside their scope. “Across the board, people are performing roles and functions that are a long way away from what they might traditionally be expected to do,” he said.
