Positive COVID case suggests Andrews government ‘hasn’t learnt its lessons’: Michael O’Brien | Sky News Australia

03/02/2021Victorian Opposition Leader Michael O’Brien says the announcement of a fresh COVID-19 case and the resulting restrictions suggest the government has not got hotel quarantine protocols right. A 26-year old man from Noble Park tested positive for coronavirus after developing symptoms following an initial negative test. The man – who is also a Country Fire Authority volunteer - is currently in a health hotel and his household contacts have been isolated.

“We were promised that the premier learnt his lessons,” Mr O’Brien said. “We were promised that they learnt from their mistakes and the fact that a hotel quarantine worker has tested positive does make us wonder, have they really learnt these lessons”. Given Premier Daniel Andrews invited Australian Open players and into Melbourne for the tournament, Victorians are right to question if the government had its “protocols up to speed” for quarantine hotels, according to Mr O’Brien.
