The pope urges Muslim, Christian and Jewish world leaders to counter the whims of the powerful.

abc.net.au/news/pope-francis-interfaith-summit-anti-war-comments/101619776Pope Francis has called for the world’s religious leaders to counter “childlike” whims of the powerful to make wars at an interfaith summit in the Gulf kingdom of Bahrain.

Sitting around him in the Sakhir royal palace grounds were leading Muslim imams, the spiritual leader of the world's Orthodox Christians, and US rabbis who have long engaged in interfaith dialogue, as well as the king himself. The Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence was the latest move by the pope to encourage dialogue between different faiths.

, where he signed a document promoting Catholic-Muslim fraternity with a leading Sunni cleric, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, who is the grand imam of Al-Azhar, the seat of Sunni learning in Cairo, and has become the pope’s key partner in promoting greater Christian-Muslim understanding. The Sheikh joined Pope Francis in Bahrain and was on hand last month in Kazakhstan too.

Later on Friday, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb was to meet privately with Pope Francis and participate in a larger encounter at the mosque in the royal palace with the Muslim Council of Elders, which he heads.Pope Francis was also bringing his message of dialogue to Bahrain's Christian leaders by presiding over an ecumenical meeting and peace prayer at the Our Lady of Arabia Cathedral, the largest Catholic Church in the Gulf, which was inaugurated last year on land gifted to the church by the king.

Religion is both the biggest cause and excuse for these 'childlike' wars. Having a summit against them is simply a PR exercise to say they had nothing to do with any of it.

Pity the Pontif doesn't expell all the Paedophiles protected by the Catholic Church and stop preaching to others.

As someone who has experienced war, it is not childlike. Children are the ones that suffer the most. This is my experience of what the Pope’s god does in wartime for the children

pffft

The pope shouldn't be calling anything 'childlike.' His preists might try and molest it.

He’s clearly been a shadow of the player he was for about a year now. Need to be ruthless if Australia were to give themselves the best possible chance. It’s like the selectors couldn’t be a**ed, chose the easy path and picked the same old geezers who have been playing for a decade. No planning whatsoever. Now or for the future.
