Sky News host Chris Kenny says it is the “tone” in which new political and police warnings are being delivered about social coronavirus restrictions which has been “a worry” thus far.

The New South Wales police commissioner recently defended his officers after they raided parks and beaches on Tuesday and Wednesday to enforce social distancing rules. People are currently allowed to be outside in groups of two, or more if they are from the same household.

Under new laws, anyone caught doing the wrong thing faces a fine of up to $11,000 or six months in prison. “We know the physical distancing rules are necessary but it’s the tone of the warnings from politicians and police that's been a worry, some of the implementation,” Mr Kenny said. He said members of the public shouldn’t be threatened for their actions, instead they should be thanked for “what they've been doing”. “Just a bit of common sense, that's what we want”.

How ridiculous! Should police and lawmakers sing instead? Maybe a witty rhyme? How about people obey the damn laws? As a frontline nurse, I’ll be sure to tell my patients about the ‘tone’ arguments when they are able to breathe on their own. If they wake up.
