Police have fatally shot a dog after it became aggressive towards two smaller dogs during an arrest at a beach north-west of Perth.When police arrived they found a grey Toyota RAV4 which had allegedly been stolen from Victoria Park earlier that day.Police have shot a dog dead on Trigg Beach while arresting a woman north-west of Perth.
Officers tried to talk to a 39-year-old woman from East Perth, who was the driver and had an American staffy with her, but she allegedly fled down a beach track.A short time later, the woman was arrested on the beach, taken to the carpark and later charged with steal motor vehicle and drives or assumes control without consent , no authority to drive , and breach of bail.
"At this time, the dog approached and attacked two smaller dogs who were walking on a pathway with their owner," police said. "When an officer's attempt to separate the dogs was unsuccessful, he fatally shot the larger dog to prevent further injury to those present." One of the smaller dogs, which were both dachshunds, suffered serious injuries and was taken for emergency medical treatment.Continue reading
