PM seeks a tax fight with Labor in bid for WA votes

Scott Morrison has issued a tax challenge to Labor as part of a pitch for votes in Western Australia, by promising the state’s business community he will never introduce a mining tax, a carbon tax or touch the multibillion-dollar diesel excise rebate given to miners.

“Events in Europe remind us starkly of the importance of energy security to national economic resilience,” he will say.“And why it would be reckless in the extreme for Australia to relinquish our traditional energy advantage in gas and coal, even as we invest in significantly lowering emissions and clean energy technology in coming decades.

On Monday, he said a Labor government would not stand in the way of new mega coal mines in Queensland’s Galilee Basin if they stacked up economically and environmentally, welcoming jobs associated with new projects seeking to leverage infrastructure built for Adani.

Should’ve done something about climate change then. Most of them are single issue candidates.

Methinks a hung parliament would be a recipe for accountability and climate action

The real problem is Scott Morrison is an absolute control freak. A hung parliament would be his worst nightmare.
