Scott Morrison has made a bold claim about the Queensland Premier, saying she had “every opportunity” to call for an emergency declaration and additional support.

The Prime Minister’s office on Friday evening confirmed Mr Morrison would approach the Governor-General to sign off on an emergency declaration of the flooding crisis to NSW.

“We’ve actually gone past that. The floodwaters have gone down, they’ve subsided, and … those disaster declarations will be lifted on Sunday,” she said. “The state can request, but no such request was made by the Queensland Government. The first to talk about putting it in place was the Federal Government.”The meeting between Mr Morrison and the Governor-general is the first time a formal declaration of a state of emergency has been made since the measure was legislated in December 2020.

Yeah turns out ScottMorrisonMP once again lied with the qld premier asking for assistance quite a while ago however ole Scotty has never been real good with the truth

Who is surprised he’s always been the pm for nsw

And now in a moment of fair and balanced reporting… let’s listen to Million Dollar Porter as he announces the legislation giving ScottyThePathologicalLiar full powers to declare an Emergency Declaration With OUT letters from Premiers

Proactive, a Prime Minister should be PROACTIVE. Esp when it comes to the Lives of his People. auspol ServeThePeople

Labor are running a relentless pre-election blame game for everything on the PM which is also a disservice to the public good ?

He shouldn’t have to ask. You have eyes use them and look after your states and country

And Scott, you could have had your representative on the ground to assess the situation and give you feedback. It's called being proactive, look it up, the action of being proactive might actually help you and give your Government some credibility

Your joking she is incapable of doing anything except blaming everyone else for her mistakes.

As a voter of Morrison I really regret my decision to elect him, but when Albanese and the greens are your alternative what does one do? Can a real leader please stand up one like Bob Hawke or Paul Keating who at least had conviction and a love to make Australia great again.

Anna would never do that😆

No premier needs to ask. This is a federal government responsibility, and it was f. obvious Scotty, you absolute train wreck. FFS!

Another day this meme is disturbingly appropriate

Doesn't he watch tv news reports, have assistants/secretaries constantly update him on severe flooding, he should have called Anna and OFFERED his support, same with any state of Australia that's in big trouble. He sucks at his job, has no idea how to be a leader of anything.

Always someone else’s job eh, Morrison? Worst so-called ‘leader’ in living memory

ScoMo has his own powers under HIS legislation to declare an emergency.

This man is an out & out Ibis. Refer to link for context.

Leaders lead ,they plan ,they action and they take responsibility. They cheer our successes and they build us up and help us when there are failures

Again, what planet is he on? Truly

Why did you call a natural disaster a week late in NSW.

Prime Minister for Sydney.

It's up to the Premier of State Government(s) to ascertain the extent of damages &/or to declare an emergency within the state they govern, if they officially require assistance from Federal Government &/or Military etc. It shouldn't be left up to assumptions being made.

Highlights the need to either do away with State govt, or rewrite the rules around their r/ship with the fed govt. I prefer the former, remove state govts, be explicit in roles and responsibilities b/w fed and local and give them zero wiggle room to shirk their responsibilities.

B1francis So this is what it comes down to. It has become a common trend. Morrison makes claims that are clearly false but not challenged by media. The false claim is published with a supporting headline. End of story. Truth is the victim.

ScottMorrisonMP Classic Scott Morrison...Blame somebody else for lack action and lack competence.

What a liar... They passed a bill back in Nov 2020 that state premieres did not have to ask for emergency assistance.. the feds would just do it

All blame … no responsibility! CallTheElectionDickhead

It’s never ScottMorrisonMP fault. Always passing the buck to someone else. incompetent

Why does he always deflect the blame. Nothing’s ever his fault, he even blamed his Hawaiian holiday on his wife. auspol

Go ahead and hate scumo if you want. But he ain't wrong about the legal requirement.

This blame game between Fed and State is getting boring. At the end of the day they all sit at the same table drinking red wine together laughing at all of you. Welcome to the game. Aus gov at all levels is a ponzi fraud.

Suddenly it isn't his fault 🙄

So has he, but he hasn’t done anything either so…

Semantics. This ⬇️ is all that matters!

Is there genuinely any people left in Australia that has watched Scott Morrison over the last 2 years and thought, he is the leader for me.....

Call the damn election

CallTheElectionDickhead

Maybe she was actually to busy doing stuff you know like her job smirko

I don't like any of the current crop of politicians , but the Queensland Premier seemed to know how the state & federal declarations worked very well over the last two years when it came to border closures and covid money

Give it a rest

What a cop out! Your responsibility ScottMorrisonMP You do know you are supposed to look after all of Australia, not just NSW.

She did have the opportunity and should have when she was shutting everything else down and telling everyone to stay home.

Scott blaming someone else as usual!!!!
