Prime Minister ScottMorrisonMP has officially announced the royal commission into the abuse, neglect and exploitation of Australians living with a disability, saying 'this is so above politics, I can't tell you'.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has officially announced the royal commission into the abuse, neglect and exploitation of Australians living with a disability. Mr Morrison announced on Friday the inquiry had gained the necessary approvals from the Governor-General and also support from the states and territories.

The $527 million inquiry will be based in Brisbane and is expected to run for three years, with the final report due to be handed down in April 2022. Former Federal Court judge Ronald Sackville will head up the commission, with the support of five other commissioners. Mr Morrison announced Australia must ‘establish a culture of respect for people living with a disability and their families who love and care for them’, saying ’this is so above politics, I can’t tell you’.

ScottMorrisonMP Again why a RC? The most recent RC was the banking RC which achieved nothing but naming and shaming the banks. F..k I could have named & shamed the banks on Twitter for only $100,000 Not $50 million.

ScottMorrisonMP ScottMorrison: 'This is so above politics, I can't tell you'. It should be above party politics but I wonder how long it will be before ScoMo on the campaign trail says 'we were the ones who set up the DisabilityRoyalCommission'. He can't stop himself! AusVotes2019 auspol

ScottMorrisonMP As a person with a lived experience of the failure of the disability sector, I applaud the RC. But I turned off the announcement when ScottMorrisonMP could not help ranting on about Labour. Have some respect and stick to the subject. auspol

ScottMorrisonMP Any news on the RC into aged care? Or if it even exits?

Morrison announces $527 million disability royal commissionScott Morrison has given the final go ahead to the disability royal commission in one of his final acts before the election campaign begins. Yes but at least he's doing something yet shows how powerless in domestic policy a prime minister actually is to change something which needs huge directive sway in the fields of science, government admin, to actually come to fruition - only a commission? The PM doesn't run AU. You could have done this so much sooner. No wait for another royal commission that costs. Um, “ how much”. Guarantee nothing will be done. More promises. What a waste of money. Royal commissions only ever find what everyone already knows. The lawyers get all the money and the government never has enough money to implement any recommendations. How about they just put $527m into the disability sector to fix the known problems.
