Hong Kong flights resume but Australian travellers warned over unpredictable 'flash mob' protests and violence

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has disputed China's claim that Hong Kong protests were verging on terrorism after thousands of democracy campaigners brought the city's airport to a standstill on Monday night.

Asked whether the protests were showing signs of terrorism, Mr Morrison said: "Well, that's certainly not the rhetoric that I would certainly use to describe those events."Chinese State Council's Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office claimed on Monday night that the protests had "begun to show signs of terrorism".

Mr Morrison's comments came as Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade told travellers to exercise a "high degree" of caution and check their flight status following ongoing, "intensified protests".at 6am local time after it was forced to abandon more than 160 departures from its international terminal.
