Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced areas devastated by the floods earlier this year will receive $75 million in post-disaster resilience delivered by the Emergency Response Fund.

“This money will go towards a flood impacts and risk management measures report … flood mitigation infrastructure and voluntary house raising,” he said during an address at the summit.

“It will cover all 62 LGAs affected by the February-March floods and comes on top of the assistance we have previously committed to.”

Albanese was ‘keen to defend fossil fuels this morning’ when questionedSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was “keen” to defend fossil fuels this morning despite the government’s aim of 43 per cent emissions reduction by 2030. “Just to show how pragmatic Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is,” Mr Clennell said. “He might be going for a 43 per cent climate emissions reduction target by 2030, but he was keen to defend fossil fuels this morning when asked about a decision announced yesterday by Resources Minister Madeleine King to open up thousands of kilometres in gas and oil exploration areas.” He said the same thing Labor has been saying since the get go. As long as people demand fossil fuels we will meet that need. That’s the sound reality whacking you in the face. Anyone asked Bowen about this? He’s an ideologue. But very quiet ATM.
